How to Get the Best from this Site

Essentially every page on this site is either an Article or a Listing. Listings have special facilities for displaying contact information. Each Article or Listing has its own page.

For a quick start you can see a list of articles or listings but, because there are many of each (hundreds of listings!) the lists are quite unweildy and can take a while to explore. But they are in date order with the latest articles at the top of the list. This is a way of finding new content.Try this by using the menu items at the top of the page and then click on the title of one of special interest.

Next, to focus more on your interest, try the top tags at the right. This will provide a list of all items that have the same tag. Again click on one that has special interest.

Alternatively, to focus more on your interest, try the search box at the top right. This will provide a list of all items that contain your search terms. Again click on one that has special interest. You may use several words and results will include items that have those words. For instance, if you would prefer to see items that cover accommodation in Wellington but dont want to be swamped by Auckland listings use the search terms `Wellington' and `acccommodation' (without the inverted commas).

Next, find an article that comes somewhere near providing the information you want. Then click on a tag near the bottom of the page that seems to be interesting and you will get a list of all pages that have the same tag. That way you will get a list of related articles and one of those might be what you want. You can repeat the process as often as you wish until all possibilities have been exhausted.

The system will be developed further later to enable you to filter out unwanted pages. This site is a work in progress and new things will be offered as time and resources permit.

The Yahoo! search engnie does use meta tags, but Google doesn't. The most important Keywords in Google are the ones that are used to link to your page from another page or the ones in the title. Each search engnie has their own way of deciding which webpages to index and how to rank them, so you may have to try asking about that specific search engnie or browse the help pages there. (I've included the more helpful Yahoo! Seach links below.)And remember that it usually takes a few weeks (sometimes longer) before new sites appear in the listings so if you've just recently submitted you may have to be patient still.
