ADOPT A COUNSELLOR- Fundraiser

Gayline Your Baby too – Adopt a Counselor (not a sheep)!

“They don’t smell bad, they don’t talk back and you don’t have to worry about feeding or clothing them”, laughs Lesley Belcham, General Manager of Gayline. “Adopt a Counsellor is a fundraiser put together by OUTLine NZ" he said today. “This is the opportunity of a lifetime to adopt a counselor from OUTLine NZ to support their training and ongoing development and support and to make OUTLine NZ your baby too” says Neil.

“The idea for the fundraiser came from a drought stricken Australian farmer who decided to adopt out his sheep to cityslickers. Seeing how well the idea worked for an Aussie sheep farmer, made me think it could be transferred to our service” he said, “without the gumboots” he laughs “and the Aussies think we have a sheep fixation!”.

“We are very excited about our new fundraiser and hope the GLTB community gets behind it for us” he said today.

“The adoption rate for a counselor is $40.00 for a year and in Auckland terms that’s less than the price of 8 cappuccinos a year” he laughs.

“The fee helps to support your adoptee for one year. Each adoption comes complete with a membership of OUTLine NZ, a certificate of adoption, progress reports on training and numerous other wonderful benefits including an invite to the annual OUTLine NZ cocktail evening” said Mr. Denney.

If you are interested in making OUTLine NZ your baby too and in doing so assisting the group maintain and grow the OUTLine NZ and Lesbianline services or interested in becoming a volunteer to do other roles, you can contact Lesley Belcham on (09) 309 3268 during business hours and he will be happy to discuss the service with you.

Refer to the Volunteer page for updated information on the next training intake.
